Catholic Sabha International Women’s Day Celebration
– Mount Rosary Church.
The Catholic Sabha of Mount Rosary Church organized a meaningful and vibrant celebration of International Women’s Day on Sunday, 22nd March 2026, at the Church Mini Hall.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from parishioners, especially women, making the occasion truly memorable.
Thanksgiving High Mass celebrated at 8.00 am by Parish Priest Rev Dr Roque DSouza wherein the CS Members led and enthusiastically participated.
The celebration commenced at 9:10 a.m. with breakfast and fellowship, providing an opportunity for members to gather in a spirit of unity and joy. At 9:15 a.m., the formal programme began with a prayer, scripture reading, and reflection, setting a solemn and spiritual tone for the event.
Distinguished dignitaries including the Parish Priest, Assistant Parish Priest, Parish Council, Vice-President, Secretary, and office bearers of the Catholic Sabha were then cordially invited onto the stage.
The gathering was formally welcomed by Mrs. Margaret D’Souza, Secretary of the Catholic Sabha, who also delivered the keynote address, highlighting the importance of recognizing and empowering women in all walks of life.
A thought-provoking talk on the “Role of Women in Family, Church and Society” was delivered by Rev. Dr. Roque DSouza inspired the audience with his insightful reflections and appreciation of women’s invaluable contributions as complementary not competitive to men as per Creator’s own plan….
One of the highlights of the programme was the felicitation ceremony, where women of the Catholic Sabha—both past and present—were honoured. Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas felicitated the past members, while Vice President of the PPC Mr Baptist Dias, Secretary Mrs Priya Furtado, Convenor of 20 Ayogs Mr Valerian Fernandes joined him while he honoured the present members, acknowledging their dedication and service to the Church and community.
The programme also featured cultural performances, including a meaningful drama with a beautiful message (Part I) and a lively dance (Part II), which beautifully reflected the theme of the celebration.
Mr. Archibald Furtado, President of the Catholic Sabha, delivered the congratulatory message on behalf of all present, appreciating the role and achievements of women in strengthening the faith and social fabric of the parish.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Clara Rego, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. The celebration came to an end with a concluding hymn, leaving the audience inspired and united.
The event was gracefully compered by Mrs. Pramila D’Souza, Joint Secretary whose coordination ensured the smooth flow of the programme.
Overall, the International Women’s Day celebration was a resounding success, celebrating the strength, dignity, and contributions of women in the Church and society.
