Solemn Observance of Good Friday

Solemn Observance of Good Friday at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte–Kallianpur

The sacred solemnity of Good Friday was observed with deep reverence and devotion at Mount Rosary Church, as hundreds of faithful gathered at 4:00 pm, filling the spacious church to its capacity.
The liturgy, marked by profound silence and reflection, was meaningfully conducted in three parts. The Passion of Our Lord was prayerfully proclaimed in a reverent and meditative manner, beautifully rendered through a blend of reading and solemn singing by the priests, laity, and choir members, drawing the faithful into the depth of Christ’s suffering.

Delivering the homily, Rev. Fr. Vincent Menezes reflected on the significance of the Cross of Jesus, describing it as the ultimate symbol of unconditional love, the path to salvation, a source of solace in human struggles, and the enduring hope of our earthly journey. His message invited the faithful to embrace the Cross in their daily lives with faith and courage.

The second part of the liturgy witnessed the Universal Prayers, where the Church fervently interceded for humanity — for leaders, for those in need, and especially for peace in a world often marked by unrest and uncertainty.

The solemn celebration was concelebrated by Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza, Parish Priest, and Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas. The entire liturgy lasted nearly two hours, marked by deep attentiveness, devotion, and spiritual intensity.

The final part of the service, the Veneration of the Cross, saw the faithful approach with humility and reverence to pay homage to the crucified Christ.

This was followed by the reception of Holy Communion, after which the congregation dispersed silently to their homes, carrying with them the spirit of reflection, gratitude, and hope.

Good Friday at Mount Rosary Church thus stood as a powerful reminder of Christ’s sacrifice — a call to live in love, endure with faith, and walk the path that leads to eternal life.
