Good Friday – Way of the Cross

Mount Rosary Parish Witnesses Deep Devotion on Good Friday.

Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte–Kallianpur, became a profound centre of prayer and reflection as hundreds of parishioners gathered in large numbers to observe Good Friday with deep faith and reverence.

At the stroke of 9:00 a.m., the spacious church open ground was filled with the faithful, united in spirit for the solemn Stations of the Cross.
The atmosphere was prayerful and moving, as the congregation embarked on the sacred journey commemorating the Passion of Christ.
Following the introductory prayers, a historic and heavy wooden Cross—a treasured symbol of faith—was reverently carried by different members representing 18 different wards of the parish. Moving from one station to another, they led the faithful through prayers and hymns. The sheer weight of the Cross, borne under the scorching sun and humid conditions, offered a powerful reminder of the immense suffering endured by Jesus Christ on His path to Calvary over two thousand years ago.

The Church Choir enhanced the solemnity of the occasion with soul-stirring hymns, creating an atmosphere of deep devotion. Various pious organizations of the parish actively participated, leading the congregation in prayer and reflection, making the experience spiritually enriching for all present.

The event was prayerfully guided and meticulously organized under the leadership of Parish Priest Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza and Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas, Sr Ancilla Roshni DMello along with dedicated community leaders. Their efforts ensured the smooth conduct of this long-standing and cherished tradition of Mount Rosary Church, observed faithfully for generations.

Adding to the spiritual fervour, a large number of devotees from neighbouring villages also joined in, reflecting the widespread devotion associated with this sacred observance.

The Good Friday observance once again stood as a powerful testimony to the unwavering faith, unity, and deep-rooted traditions of the Mount Rosary Parish community.
