Dr. Roque D’Souza on the blessed occasion of his 45th Ordination Day.
Born on 5th June 1953 in Hanglur near Kundapura, as the proud son of Lazarus and Celistine D’Souza, your journey of faith and dedication began with humble roots. From your early education in Pius Nagar and Kundapur to your priestly formation at St. Joseph’s Inter-diocesan Seminary, your life has been a shining testimony of commitment and grace.
Ordained on 22nd April 1981 by Rt. Rev. Dr. Basil Salvadore D’Souza, you have faithfully served the Church with unwavering zeal for over four and a half decades.
Your early pastoral ministry at St. Sebastian Church, Bendur, and your impactful tenure as one of the youngest Vicar of Kadaba Parish remain fondly remembered as years of spiritual renewal and socio-economic progress. Your service as Director of Vocation Training, followed by your academic contributions as a professor at St. Joseph’s Seminary, reflect your deep passion for nurturing vocations and imparting knowledge.
Your intellectual brilliance and dedication led you to Germany, where you attained a Ph.D. in Theology and mastered the German language. On your return, your 12-year tenure as Professor of Theology enriched countless seminarians and strengthened the intellectual foundation of the Church.
As a Parish Priest, your leadership earlier in Modankap, especially in Udyavar—where you spearheaded the construction of a magnificent new church dedicated to St. Francis Xavier—and later at Palimar, stands as a testament to your visionary zeal and pastoral commitment.
Since June 2022, as the Parish Priest of Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte–Kallianpur, you have been a beacon of discipline, devotion, and perfection. Your role as Correspondent of Mount Rosary English Medium High School, guiding over 50 teachers and more than 1600 students, further highlights your dedication to education and holistic formation.
A man of letters, a perfectionist, and a devout shepherd, your profound writings on Holy Scriptures and your deep theological insight continue to inspire many. We are truly blessed to have a scholar, educationist, and prayerful pastor serving our vibrant and diverse parish of over 675 families.
On this special milestone, we unite with the entire parish community in thanking God for the gift of your priesthood. May the Almighty Lord continue to bless you with good health, joy, and strength in your noble mission. Through the loving intercession of our Patroness, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, may you always be protected and guided in your ministry.
