The Catholic Sabha Unit of Mount Rosary Church celebrated Catholic Sabha Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and community spirit on Sunday, 24th May 2026, immediately after the 8:00 a.m. Holy Mass at the adjacent Mini Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme commenced at 9:15 a.m. with a warm Breakfast Fellowship, fostering unity and interaction among members. This was followed by a prayerful invocation through hymn and prayers, invoking God\u2019s blessings on the gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The President, Mr. Archibald Furtado, extended a heartfelt Welcome and Keynote Address, highlighting the importance of Catholic Sabha in strengthening faith, unity, and social responsibility among the laity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dignitaries present\u2014Rev. Dr. Roque D\u2019Souza (Parish Priest), Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas (Assistant Parish Priest), Mr. Melwyn Aranha (Diocesan Catholic Sabha President), Mr. Valerian Fernandes (Convenor of 20 Pastoral Commissions), and Mr. Luke D\u2019Souza (Former Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council)\u2014were honoured with fresh roses by Past President Mr. Elias D\u2019Souza along with other office bearers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The General Secretary, Ms. Margaret D\u2019Souza, presented a crisp Annual Report, outlining the activities and achievements of the unit over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, President Designate Mr. Tolbert D\u2019Souza and Immediate Past President (IPP) Mr. Elias D\u2019Souza presented the Proposed Activities (Karyayojan) for 2026\u201327, while Treasurer Ms. Wilma Rego presented the budget allocation, offering a clear and structured vision for the future with renewed commitment and participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A significant highlight of the programme was the Honouring of Academic Excellence. Eighteen students who excelled in the Class X and XII Public Examinations were felicitated. Their names were announced, certificates were presented by the Parish Priest, and cash prizes were distributed by Mr. Luke D\u2019Souza, generous donors, and other dignitaries on stage. The event was efficiently conducted by Secretary Ms. Margaret D\u2019Souza and Treasurer Ms. Wilma Rego, who ensured proper recognition of the students\u2019 hard work, inspiring others in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winners of the Konkani Essay Writing Competition at the Deanery level, Reuben D\u2019Mello and Ms. Riyana D\u2019Mello, were also honoured with shawls and roses on this occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rev. Dr. Roque D\u2019Souza, Parish Priest, then addressed the gathering with a meaningful felicitation message, appreciating the efforts of the Sabha and encouraging continued dedication to community service. He admired the dedicated efforts of Students, parents and teachers as team and CS for recognising these talents and achievements….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sabha also recognized the valuable contributions of ICYM and YCS youth and volunteers. Vice President Mr. Reuben Rebello introduced the members of YCS and ICYM, along with their animator Mr. Arnold Roche. They were honoured for their dedicated service during the Joshal D\u2019Souza Musical Nite held on 05.04.2026. Special appreciation was also extended to volunteers and CS  leaders Mr Dancy Machado, William DSouza, Peter Lewis, Simon DSouza and a host of others who efficiently managed parking arrangements during the Episcopal Ordination of the Bishop on 20.04.2026, reflecting commendable discipline and commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ward Gurkars were also recognized for their grassroots leadership, with this segment led by former President Ms. Rosy Quadros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On behalf of the achievers, Ms. Renisha D\u2019Souza, who represented Mount Rosary English Medium High School at the State-level English Elocution Competition, shared her experience and acknowledged the encouragement received from the Catholic Sabha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Guest, Mr. Melwyn Aranha, Diocesan Catholic Sabha President, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing unity, leadership, and active involvement of the laity in Church and society. He specially appreciated the \u201cwonderful and united efforts of Mount Rosary during the Joshal D\u2019Souza Musical Nite,\u201d noting that the unit contributed a lion\u2019s share towards Goretti Hospital welfare programmes and is counted among the top five units in the Deanery and Diocese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme concluded with a sincere Vote of Thanks proposed by Joint Secretary Ms. Clara Rego, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the celebration. The participants and organizers highly appreciated the best efforts of the emcee, Ms. Pramila D\u2019Souza, for conducting the programme effectively and within the stipulated time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
